BioBridge Global to Anchor Former Merchants Ice Complex
Days after San Antonio offered a package of economic development incentives to renovate the former Merchants Ice and Cold Storage Co., property-owner Texas Research and Technology Foundation signed its first tenant to the proposed biomedical sciences center.
BioBridge Global, a local nonprofit, is taking down 21,000 square feet for a biomanufacturing center on the site at 1304 and 1305 E. Houston St. The space will allow BioBridge subsidiary GenCure to increase its production of adult stem cells.
The tenant’s new facility will have 6,000 square feet of clean-room production space (with build-out capacity to 14,000 square feet), a 2,500-square-foot development lab, and meeting and office space. GenCure will move into the center by the end of 2019, along with VelocityTX. The complex’s first phase is anticipated to be completed by fall 2019.
