Houston billionaire Tilman Fertitta has acquired the Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse and Del Frisco’s Grille chains from private equity firm L Catterton. Fertitta, who owns the Houston Rockets basketball team, as well as restaurant chain Landry’s, acquired the Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group for an undisclosed price, just hours after Connecticut-based L Catterton closed on its previously announced $650 million buy of the chain.

L Catterton will retain ownership of Del Frisco’s Bartaco and Barcelona Wine Bar. The sale, which includes 35 national De Frisco’s steakhouses, is expected to close in late October, 2019. “Del Frisco’s is a perfect complement to our existing high-end steakhouse portfolio,” Fertitta said in a statement, adding he plans to make no changes to Del Frisco’s operations.
