Big Lots Backfilling Beaumont Toys R Us

A retail site in Beaumont, TX that once housed Toys R Us and Babies R Us space will be home to discount retailer Big Lots. The 43,404-square-foot building at 5910 Eastex Fwy. will undergo a $700,000 upgrade of its façade and minor interior renovations in preparation. At this time, the permit has yet to be approved and the contractor to be determined, though the signage has already been removed. Both stores were shuttered in 2017.

The property belongs to Kin Properties of Boca Raton, FL, which has owned it since 2010, according to public records. Though other Big Lots are in southeast Texas, the one planned for Eastex Freeway will be the first in Beaumont, proper.
