BH to Redevelop, Rebrand San Diego’s Hazard Center Retail

BH Properties on Monday revealed plans for a remodeling and rebranding for San Diego’s historic Hazard Center, a 135,000-square-foot retail center located in Mission Valley. The company said the multimillion-dollar remodel will result in a refined lifestyle-oriented retail experience at the epicenter of Mission Valley and a rebranding of the center to The Landing at HZRD.

“The Landing at HZRD reflects our repositioning strategy to reimagine the property as a curated lifestyle destination that blends local character with national appeal,” said Jim Brooks, president of BH Properties. “The recent acquisition of Hazard Center, and this major remodel, represent a significant milestone and a further commitment to the firm’s West Coast retail portfolio expansion, which recently includes several other significant retail acquisitions in San Francisco and Seattle.”

BH Properties acquired the property in August of 2024 as part of its acquisition of the larger, mixed-use Hazard Center asset, which includes an adjacent 15-story, 270,000-square-foot Class-A office tower.
