Best Buy Founder Sells Chain’s Oldest Store in Edina, MN
Best Buy Co. founder Richard Schulze sold a building in Edina, MN that was one of his chain’s oldest stores. The buyer, Kurt Krumenauer with Midwest Apartment Brokers, plans to turn the building into upscale apartments called Cake Residences. Krumenauer paid $4.5 million for the site.
The former store at 3200 Southdale Circle opened in 1973 as Sound of Music. It was converted to Best Buy in the 1980s, and was the oldest Best Buy store when it closed in 2012. The Best Buy lease runs through 2018.
