Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New York Properties has launched a new division to broker commercial real estate deals.

Industry veteran Herb M. Hirsch (pictured) will lead the new division. Over his career, Hirsch has brokered more than $750 million in transactions. He also rehabbed Harlem apartment buildings in the late 1980s, and founded Everest Broadband, a telecom company that updated the wiring and connectivity of New York City skyscrapers, beginning his long-standing relationships with many top owners and managers.

“The Berkshire Hathaway name is synonymous with unparalleled financial strength, operational excellence and business ethics,” said Hirsch. “We’ve been able to leverage Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ large network of referrals and resources, which has allowed us to hit the ground running.”

Hirsch and his team are already working on deals to buy or lease commercial properties valued at more than $500 million.
