Bergfeld Park Amphitheater Moves Forward
The Tyler City Council approved a $987,000 construction contract with TCMC Commercial IP to renovate Bergfeld Park’s amphitheater. Sears and Roebuck Company built the facility as a gift to the city in 1935.
The project is slated to break ground next month, and will take 150 days to complete. Renovations will touch on the stage, seating area, as well as correct longstanding drainage issues.
Fitzpatrick Architects handled the schematic drawings, which required approval by local and state historical commissions in order to retain historical markers. The amphitheater revitalization is part of an overall improvement effort underway at the historical park, a city jewel for more than a century.
Funding comes from several sources, though primarily a $325,000 donation from the Centene Charitable Foundation.
