Bellevue Project to Swap Out Office Space for Residential Units
Cloudvue, a three-skyscraper mega-project proposed for Bellevue, is replacing the office towers with residential buildings, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. Initially conceived as a massive office complex, the project has been reimagined as a mixed-use development with more residential units.
Developer Stanford Hotels Group’s original plan was for 1.7 million square feet of office space in two towers, 538 residences and 117 hotel rooms in the third 600-foot building. Under the new plan, the office towers at 10855 NE Eighth Street will be replaced by residential towers instead, with the center tower remaining half hotel and half residential.
Stanford Hotel Group has also modified the plans to replace a performing arts center with a grocery store in a three-level building plus a fitness center and office space. The pivot comes as Seattle and surrounding areas continue to see a rise in office vacancies and an increase in the need for housing.
