BEI Battery Storage Projects Nearing Completion

BEI Battery Storage Projects Nearing Completion

Alameda, CA-based BEI Construction has announced that it is nearing completion of energy storage facilities in Porterville, CA (pictured), Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Long Beach, CA, all of which are parts of one of the largest energy storage projects in California. When complete, the new facilities will tie-in to the existing substations at all three locations.

The new substations will maximize reliability of the grid by charging during periods of excess generation and discharge during periods of need. Collectively, the project will add enough stored energy to power roughly 537,000 homes in Southern California for four hours.

The development of the three locations is in part a result of Governor Newsom’s proclamation to accelerate the deployment of new clean energy and storage projects, coupled with the state mandate that requires all electricity be 100% renewable by 2045. “BEI is playing its part as the GC of this substantial stored energy project,” said BEI’s Jerry Zampino.
