Behavioral Hospital to Re-Open — Again — Under New Name
A Longview, TX inpatient behavioral hospital that has closed and re-opened twice since the summer of 2016 is trying for a third time. Specifically, the hospital, at 22 Bermuda Lane, is scheduled to re-open soon as Heroes Mile West. According to the Longview News-Journal, John McKinnon applied for a certificate of occupancy for the 76-bed facility. Oglethorpe Inc. in Tampa, FL, is listed as the facility’s parent company.
Oglethorpe had closed the hospital this past summer, two and a half years after opening it as Magnolia Behavioral Hospital. The company voluntarily surrendered its license to the Texas Health & Human Services Commission on July 1. Previous to that, Oglethorpe had operated the facility as Behavioral Hospital of Longview, but had shuttered it in 2016, after losing Medicare reimbursements.
