Bebe Says “Bye-Bye” to Brick-N-Mortar
Brisbane, CA-based Bebe plans to close all of its 175 stores by the end of May 2017. The women’s clothing retailer’s intentions were part of SEC filings late last week.
A regulatory filing noted the company expects to recognize an impairment charge of roughly $20 million, as a result of closing all its stores.
Bebe said it is in the process of exploring strategic alternatives. Though it hasn’t spelled out specifics, Bebe is also being watched as a company that could join the growing list of retailers to file for bankruptcy protection.
Bebe previously reported it planned to close 12% of its locations, amounting to 21 stores.
