Beaumont Housing Authority Brings 100 Rental Houses to Market
The Beaumont Housing Authority (BHA) is gearing up to sell 100 single-family rental houses and four vacant lots. The agency hired Paul A. Lynn & Associates LLC to conduct a live-auction sale, the first time the BHA is using this type of platform to sell the assets. The auction is scheduled for Feb. 29 at the Beaumont Civic Center.
“These properties have been part of our portfolio for a number of years,” said the BHA’s Allison Landrum, adding that the agency will use the proceeds to fund housing programs for low- and moderate-income families. The homes were part of Beaumont’s scattered site homes program, which places individual rental homes in various neighborhoods throughout the city.
According to Paul Lynn, all the properties are vacant. The houses were built in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and half are in move-in condition. The remainder either need minor repairs, or are in shell condition, Lynn added.
