Beaumont Health Prepares for 213K-SF Royal Oak, MI Teardown

Beaumont Health is making final plans to demolish the Northwood Shopping Center in Royal Oak, MI. The plans call for demolition of the 213,000-square-foot shopping center beginning July 1.

The property at 13 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue was built in the mid-1950s and renovated in the 1990s. For more than 10 years, Beaumont, which owns several hospitals and medical centers in southeast Michigan, considered either selling or tearing down the shopping center.

The medical company has owned the property since the early 1980s, and is soliciting information from the community and healthcare employees as to future uses. The center is 59% occupied with 12 tenants, including four Beaumont affiliates and a Kroger grocery store.
