SpaceX in Bastrop driving growth

Bastrop Gearing Up for SpaceX, Boring Company

Once Bastrop was chosen as plant sites for SpaceX/Starlink (see photo) and Boring Company, town planners have been in overdrive trying to accommodate the expected growth. The Austin Business Journal reports in October, work began on Adelton, a 348-acre residential neighborhood with commercial components. In May, Wood Partners and SCOA Real Estate Partners on a 342-unit luxury apartment complex in Bastrop. A 49-acre tract in Bastrop County suitable for 426 duplex units or 214 duplex units and 380 apartments is up for auction right next door to Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Boring Company facilities.

The town is now expecting a new project with 400 apartments spread across 17 three-story buildings. Additionally, the still-unnamed project in Pecan Park would feature a one-story wood frame clubhouse and amenity center, 17 carports, two kiosk buildings and a maintenance building.

The estimated cost of the project is $70 million. Construction is expected to begin October 1 this year and complete October 31, 2025.
