Bass Pro Shops Buys Florida Keys Sporting Resort
Northwood Investors sold Cheeca Lodge & Spa, a historic fishing and sporting resort destination located in Islamorada at the heart of the Florida Keys, to Bass Pro Shops. JLL advised on the sale. In April, Northwood listed the property for $300 million.
Northwood Hospitality will continue to operate the 27-acre, 254-room resort. Over the past 15 years, Northwood has invested in improvements including 43 premium oceanfront suites, 11 luxury casitas and an oceanfront property, a 10,000 square foot conference center, and a zero-entry oceanfront pool with the adjacent tiki bar, 25 South, as well as the acquisition of the adjacent Casitas and Morada Bay properties across U.S. 1, including Pierre’s Restaurant and retail shops.
Cheeca Lodge & Spa, a resort founded in 1946, has attracted well-known, legendary anglers, presidents, athletes, and authors, including President George H.W. Bush, President Harry Truman, Ernest Hemingway, Zane Grey, Ted Williams, and Jack Nicklaus, who also designed the resort’s on-premises 9-hole par-3 golf course.
