BASIS Private School Opts for City Point Location

Private school BASIS Independent Brooklyn has signed a lease for a second Brooklyn campus at the City Point mixed-use development downtown, the New York Post reported. The new, 62,000-square-foot Lower School facility will open in the fall of 2021 and serve pre-K through second grade.

The original Brooklyn Upper School location of BASIS is at a Red Hook building that opened in 2014 and teaches grades 3-12.

The Post reported that the new facility will fill most of the newest of three City Point buildings, which has 71,000 square feet, according to Paul Travis, managing partner of Washington Square Partners, which manages the complex for Albee Development in a joint venture with Acadia Realty Trust. Arch Brokerage principal Laurence Roberts represented the landlord, Albee Phase 3 Development.

The City Point facility will have its own dedicated campus entrance. Both Brooklyn locations are part of BASIS Independent Schools’ national network.
