Ballard Crossing to Find New Life as Affordable Housing

Seattle’s historic Ballard area has been identified by the city as a good candidate for affordable housing. And a site called Ballard Crossing fits that bill.

Ballard Crossing, a 10,000-square-foot development site at 6400 15th Ave. NW, recently sold for $2 million. The buyer was Inland Group.

Inland Group intends to redevelop the site into a five-story mixed-use building with 81 affordable housing units and retail. The units will be used primarily to house formerly homeless individuals and families who are transitioning off the streets, an important first step in anticipation of future permanent housing.

Colliers’ Pacific Northwest multifamily team of Tim McKay, Dan Chhan, Sam Wayne and Matt Kemper represented the seller, Pryde Development, and sourced the buyer. Ballard Crossing is the fourth transaction that McKay, Chhan and Wayne have closed with Inland Group during the past five years. These transactions have totaled 551 affordable housing units, demonstrating the team’s ongoing commitment to championing affordable housing in and around Seattle.
