Baker FGF to Rise in S.A., Plans $129M Investment for HQ and Factory
Toronto-headquartered FGF Brands is planning to invest more than $129 million to establish a manufacturing plant and U.S. headquarters on San Antonio’s west side. The maker of muffins, croissants and breads will build its facility on 100 acres at 6245 SH 151. Additionally, the company, which hung its shingle in San Antonio in 2018, will add 600 more jobs.
San Antonio was one of three cities FGF selected for U.S. expansion; it will announce its final selections before the end of 2019. The company currently employs 328 locally, at its site near the CBD.
Bexar County Commissioners have approved a 10-year, 50% real and personal property tax abatement, valued at $1.7 million for the Canadian company. FGF Brands is also eligible for an Upskill Project tax abatement from the city of San Antonio, which was put into place to attract companies dedicated to promoting economic mobility through hiring practices and workforce training programs.
