BAE Inks 2nd Largest South Bay Industrial Lease of 2016
BAE Systems Ship Repair leased 110,000 square feet at Four-Sher Development’s Chula Vista Corporate Center in Chula Vista, CA. It is the second largest industrial deal in the South Bay this year, behind Hybrid Apparel’s 135,000-square-foot transaction.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Bryce Aberg and Ryan Spradling, who weren’t involved in the deal, say the lease gives BAE expansion options at an adjacent, separate 4.6-acre parcel under the same ownership. That’s key because the market’s historic tight industrial condition is placing “serious pressure” on users.
BAE is seeking to grow and add capacity to handle more ships the U.S. Navy plans to station in San Diego, as part of the “Pacific Pivot.” BAE plans to sublease its former space at Barrio Logan shipyard.
Cresa’s Glenn Friedrich represented BAE. Voit’s Michael Mossmer and Curt Perry represented the landlord.
