Avondale Picks Developer to Build Gateway Attractions

The city of Avondale chose Blueprints Capital and Whitten Development to build a 16-acre city-owned entertainment hub that would serve as a gateway into the city. It’s expected to include restaurants, retail and other attractions.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports Avondale has dubbed its planned downtown district The BLVD. The 356-acre mixed-use destination will include hotels, multifamily communities as well as a number of sports-oriented facilities, such as Phoenix Raceway and the American Sports Centers complex. The American Sports Center’s complex is one of the largest indoor multisport facilities in Arizona, where basketball, volleyball and soccer tournaments are held.

More than 2,000 multifamily units are located within walking distance of The BLVD.

The cities of Goodyear and Surprise are also in the process of constructing brand new downtowns in partnership with local developers for hundreds of acres of new commercial space.
