Mike Kennedy, Avison Young principal and managing director of the company’s Austin office, is stepping down from the leadership position, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Kennedy will remain with the company as a principal.

Kennedy, a 38-year commercial real estate industry veteran, founded Commercial Texas in 1997, which Avison Young bought out in 2014. During his career, he led more than 1,000 lease and sales transactions in Austin, Houston and San Antonio. In recent years, he added four services: property management, project management, agency leasing and capital markets.

“It has been a true honor to serve my partners and teammates at Avison Young in a management role in Austin for the past four years,” Kennedy said. “The team has, in a very short time, produced a great deal of momentum specific to the success of our company and the development of our professionals.”
