Auto Supplier Takes Entire East Bay Facility
SAS Automotive Systems (SAS) pre-leased the entire 142,188-square-foot OMP Eureka Landing in a deal valued north of $20 million. The advanced manufacturing facility in Newark, CA is nearing completion, with occupancy slated for January.
It is the German-based automotive systems supplier’s first West Coast outpost. The building is within the 880 industrial corridor, close to Tesla Motors’ facility.
Colliers International’s Mark Triska and Sanjiv Chadha represented the tenant. Newmark Cornish & Carey’s Steve Kapp, Mike Spiro and Curtis Stahle represented landlord, Los Angeles-based Overton Moore Properties.
NCC’s Kapp says, “SAS represents the first firm from the core automotive area to establish a presence in the East Bay.”
Colliers’ Triska says, “[SAS] selected this location, given they are a strategic supplier to Tesla and they could fulfill orders just in time from this location. The building interiors will be modified to accommodate their manufacturing and assembly processes.”
