CWS planning $50M apartment/mixed use project on Far West in Austin

Austin’s Far West Blvd to be Home for More Apartments/Restaurant

CSW Development has applied for permits to get moving on a project that could mix multifamily, retail and possibly a restaurant. Public filings show CSW is expecting to spend $50 million on the project.

The company’s website, for now is calling the project, Far West Multifamily. The project will go where a Frost Bank branch is currently located. It would have to be demolished before construction on the proposed 257,000 square foot development got started. The site zoning would allow for multi-family, mixed-use projects. Plans outlined in public filings call for 359 multifamily units.

The Austin Business Journal reports the project will consist of four five-story buildings and a six-story parking structure, adding that beneath the multifamily units, the development could have a 6,000-square-foot restaurant as well as a shell commercial space on the ground floor. The company is looking at a start date of January 1, 2024 and a completion date of September 2025.
