Austin Chooses DMA for Redevelopment Plan
Austin has chosen DMA Developers to helm a redevelopment project where a vacant 5.5-acre utility yard sits today. The original request for qualifications asked for developers to come up with projects on the city land that’d include at least 300 housing units on four acres, with about 150 available at the lower affordability levels of 50% and 80% of Austin’s median family income, or MFI. The remaining units would be available at 100% to 120% MFI. The City now plans to meet with DMA to finalize a development plan for the parcel.
The city purchased the land from Austin Energy and has held onto the 5.5-acre site at 6909 Ryan Drive for a number of years. In addition to the multifamily community, the city expects to use 1.5 acres of the property for parks or amenity space, while a portion of the land would be turned into an accessible transit plaza.
