Room to roam may not be a priority for every apartment seeker. The Austin Business Journal reports a half-block in East Austin could be transformed into a mixed-use multifamily complex with extra small apartments. 90% of the apartments will be 500 square feet or less.

Canaan Modern Homes will develop the project, called Atlas 7. The ground floor will have the building’s lobby plus more than 13,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, while the upper levels will contain the 192 apartments.

The proposed $43 million development would rise on four lots totaling 1.3 acres at E. Seventh St. and 621 Gunter St.
