Aurubis Breaks Ground on $320M Multimetal Recycling Plant in Augusta

Germany-based Aurubis AG has started an approximately $320-million multimetal recycling plant in Augusta, GA. The facility represents one of the biggest international investments in the state of GA and will be the US’ first large secondary smelter for multimetal recycling.

Colliers worked with Aurubis AG to locate a site for the facility.

The facility will have the capacity to process about 90,000 tons of complex recycling materials annually, including printed circuit boards, copper cables, and other recycling materials containing metals.

Aurubis’ facility will both reduce waste and direct key metals to industry. The company’s environmental technology meets or exceeds the highest State of GA and the federal government’s standards and will have a very low impact on the air quality in the region (less than 0.2 % share of dust emissions).

Aurubis’ Georgia facility is expected to become a major supply chain player in North America and a significant employer in Augusta.
