AT&T Targets Dallas, Waco and Atlanta for 5G Rollout
If you don’t find your 4G downloading or streaming data quickly enough, faster wireless is just around the corner. And, if you live in Dallas and Waco, TX and Atlanta, GA, you are one of three cities targeted by AT&T for the 5G rollout. The 5G will provide phones and tablets with a speedier connection, approximately 10 times faster than 4G.
The problem, however, is that there are no smartphones on the market, at present, that can take advantage of the upgraded network. Dallas-headquartered AT&T noted, however, that it’s anticipating new 5G-compatible devices to hit the market in 2018. The telecommunications giant said it would be adding the devices to its lineup in early 2019.
Verizon, AT&T’s competitor, also announced it would launch 5G residential broadband services in 2018, in select markets.
