Atlanta Pickleball Veteran Building Nation’s Largest Facility
Pickleball aficionado Mike Shamus has chosen the Upper Westside of Atlanta for what he says will be the country’s largest facility. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports the 110,000 square foot facility, called Pickleball Club of America, will come with specific LED lighting to prevent glares in players’ eyes, sound absorption material, a full bar, a café, locker rooms with showers, golf simulators, a fitness center, and four event rooms ranging in size from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet.
In addition, the center will include a 20-foot-high ceiling, column spacing of at least 30 feet in one direction for a 30 by 60 court. The facility will be able to handle 2,500 members. It will open in late 2025. Architects at the Terminus Design Group are designing the facility.
Georgia Tech women’s and men’s pickleball teams have committed to using the facility for practice, home matches, events and tournaments.
