Atlanta Developer Eyeing Over 3,000 Apartment Units, Commercial Space
Abebe Ventures plans to develop a mixed-use project in southwest Atlanta by 2035, featuring 3,032 residential units and more than 716,000 square feet of commercial space.
The project is planned along a section of Sylvan Road in Atlanta’s Capitol View neighborhood, bordered by Avon Avenue to the north and Dill Avenue to the south.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports Abebe Westside Ventures LLC paid $8.3 million for a roughly 6.5-acre parcel at 1215 Sylvan Road last August. Parcels situated along the adjacent Cox Avenue would also be utilized in the development.
Abebe’s project would border the Beltline’s Oakland + Murphy connector trail, a 1.31-mile path that, once completed, would link the existing Beltline Southside Trail (photo) to Murphy Avenue and the Oakland City MARTA station. Construction on the connector trail is scheduled to start in 2026 and wrap in 2027.
The Abebe project would also rise near Murphy Crossing, where the Atlanta Beltline Inc. wants to place housing, retail and industrial space on approximately 20 acres along the Westside Trail.
