ASU/Omni building $42M parking structure

ASU/Omni Hotel Sharing $42M Parking Structure

Typically, stand-alone parking structures don’t get much run. But when they are five stories, cover 429,000 square feet and cost $42 million to build, well, that’s a story.

The Mill Avenue Parking Structure at Arizona State University will have 1,205 spaces. The design-build partnership between DFDG Architecture and general contractor McCarthy Building Companies also provides designated valet parking for the Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU and events at the Nelson Fine Arts Center and Gammage Auditorium.

The parking structure’s north and south faces feature a vertical metal screen composed of thin blades set at various angles for a distinctive look that is not typical of a parking facility.

Design consultants for the Mill Avenue Parking Structure included Henderson Engineers, PK Associates and WoodPatel & Associates.
