ARUP Downtown LA Relocation Largest of Year

In a lease transaction that represents the largest corporate relocation into DTLA this year, ARUP Engineering signed a $57-million, 15-year lease at the new Wilshire Grand Building. The London-based engineering firm is taking 66,000 square feet at Hanjin/Korean Air’s landmark 73-story skyscraper.

ARUP’s Jim Quiter says, “The move downtown places us in the center of the marketplace, which allows us to attract a more diverse staff, and to have a greater impact on our industry, our city, and the issues they face.”

ARUP will occupy three full floors at a property that includes a five-star hotel and a variety of restaurants. The relocation from Playa Vista also represents an expansion for the firm, which expects to grow from from 300 employees to 400.

Colliers International’s Nathan Pellow and Terence Kirk, along with Legacy Partners, represented the tenant. The landlord was advised by Cushman & Wakefield’s Steve Marcussen and John Cushman III.
