Arts and Education Nonprofit Inks Lease at Brookfield’s Pier 70

Brookfield Properties has leased space at Pier 70’s restored historic Building 12 to arts and education nonprofit The Plenary, Co., adding to the site’s creative community of artists, makers and innovators. Building 12 is a key component of the developer’s 28-acre mixed-use neighborhood under construction along San Francisco’s Central Waterfront.

“The Plenary is an ideal fit for Building 12’s ethos centered around creativity, community and inclusivity,” said Brookfield Properties senior director of development Tim Bacon. “It’s important to us how The Plenary addresses societal issues in ways that will further build a sense of community at Pier 70.”

Originally built in 1941 for the World War II shipbuilding effort, the football-field-sized steel Building 12 has already signed leases with seven other artists, makers and food purveyors that expressed interest in remaining or expanding in San Francisco. The Plenary plans to open at Building 12 in early 2024.
