Arlington Stadium Slated for Improvements
Although the Texas Rangers have moved to Globe Field, neighboring Choctaw Stadium will still see a lot of action. Because of that, the Arlington City Council has approved a plan to upgrade the stadium. The stadium hosts a number of high school games along with UFL games, a professional football league that plays in the spring. It will also host a number of FIFA World Cup games in 2026 and the NCAA Final Four in 2030.
Even though the city owns it, the team still operates the stadium. And they want to make some improvements. The renovations will give the stadium’s exterior a facelift, increase public safety and add more parking. The city said it could come up with $4.2 million and the Rangers will have to come up with the rest. Among the upgrades:
3,000 square feet inside for Arlington Police and Fire and 6,000 square feet of renovations within Choctaw Stadium for new street-level, leasable, commercial space that will likely include restaurants and retail.
