Ardent Acquires East Texas Medical Center System

Ardent Health Services, headquartered in Nashville, TN, acquired the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System (ETMC) for an undisclosed amount. The new system will be affiliated with the University of Texas medical network.

ETMC, headquartered in Tyler, TX, includes a grid of nine hospitals and 39 clinics, including the 502-bed East Texas Medical Center Tyler. Other assets include the Olympic Plaza Tower, 13 regional rehabilitation facilities, physician clinics, two freestanding emergency centers, regional home health services covering 41 counties, a behavioral health center and a comprehensive 7-trauma center care network.

ETMC began looking for a “strategic partner” since April 2017, when Moody’s Investor Services downgraded the system to junk-bond status.
