Apple Plans Major China Store Expansion
Apple Stores are obviously a big deal in the United States, commanding more sales per square foot than any other major chain with a presence here. But they apparently do pretty well in China, too.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has 22 stores in that country and is looking to double its unit count in China by the middle of next year. Sales in that part of the world shot up 71 percent from a year ago, hitting $16.8 billion, and that counted for one-third of the company’s sales in its last quarter.
The growing middle class is especially interested in iPhones, and Apple executives and analysts say that Apple Watch sales will be the next big thing.
