Apple Gets No Love from Cupertino’s Mayor
Cupertino’s mayor, Barry Chang, is not Apple’s biggest fan. Although the tech giant believes it has brought a lot to the city, Chang feels otherwise.
Chang would like for Apple to pay more in taxes, and support a bill that would bring $100 million to improve infrastructure in the community. But, according to Chang, “Apple is not willing to pay a dime. They’re making profit, and they should share the responsibility for our city, but they won’t. They abuse us.”
Apple does indeed pay millions in taxes, but many in the community are wary of the traffic, job competition and noise that its campuses create.
Apple is currently building a new $5 billion campus in Cupertino, which is expected to be completed later this year.
