Apartments, Retail Planned for Galveston Bay
Construction began on a 19.5-acre mixed-use development in Seabrook on Galveston Bay called Seabrook Town Center. The Houston Business Journal reports the project will include a 320-unit apartment complex and 28,500 square feet of retail, restaurants and offices. HS Development Group is developing it. HS bought the parcel in 2022 and has been working on the financing, entitlements and permits since then.
HS has brought on NHK Real Estate Investments as an equity partners. First Horizon Bank provided construction financing for the roughly $85 million project.
There will be two retail and restaurant buildings that will total about 20,000 square feet and are 55% pre-leased. The development also will include a 7,500-square-foot building off state Highway 146, a 5,000-square-foot building facing Lakeside Drive and four pad sites fronting Highway 146.
The company is planning to build the apartments, to be called The Edge at Seabrook Town Centre, in eight to nine months.
Completion of the entire development is targeted for the second quarter of 2028.
