Apartments, Hotel Slated for UT Campus

A Nashville-based developer, Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners (AJ Capital), who wants to build hundreds of hotel rooms and apartments south of the University of Texas at Austin campus, has revealed more details about its plan.

The Austin Business Journal reports the project calls for 194 hotel rooms, with another 53,400 square feet for a lobby, ground floor restaurant, rooftop restaurant, gym, meeting rooms and banquet space. AJ Capital’s Graduate Hotels are boutique hotels in 37 cities in the United States and United Kingdom, often near universities.

The project’s 19-story residential component will be under the company’s Memoir Residential brand. The plans call for 228 studio, one- and two-bedroom units with roughly 39,900 square feet reserved for amenities such as a gym, bike storage, dog wash area, storage and a leasing office.

Before construction can be completed, an office building constructed in 1965 will need to be demolished.
