Zenchai, an innovative tea bar, has signed a 10-year lease on a 750-square-foot space at 94 Rivington Street. It’s just the latest new business to lease space in the blocks around the massive, 1.9 million-square-foot Essex Crossing development now opening its first phases.

“Our Retail Leasing Division has been tremendously active on the Lower East Side, which is attracting new retail due to the Essex Street Crossing projects and high-end condos being developed in the area,” said James Famularo, for Eastern Consolidated.

New restaurants especially are pouring into the neighborhood. “We’ve leased a number of spaces in the last few weeks,  including a space next door at 92 Rivington Street and a few blocks away at 177 Ludlow Street to milkshake giant ‘BlackTap,’” Famularo said.
