Angels Unveil Development Plan for 150-Acre Ballpark MXU

SRB Management Co., comprised of Angels Baseball owner Arte Moreno and his family, submitted plans to the City of Anaheim to transform the 153 acres surrounding Angel Stadium of Anaheim into a mix of ballpark neighborhoods, parks and open spaces, dining, shopping, hotels and workplaces. A proposed 30-year master plan encompasses 2.7 million square feet of office space, 5,175 apartments and condominiums, 1.1 million square feet of retail, restaurants, and 943 hotel rooms, as well as 12,500 parking spaces in structures, surface and underground.

Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu says, “For too long, the fate of baseball in Anaheim was unclear. Now there is a clear path forward with this proposal for neighborhoods, parks, open spaces, shopping, dining and entertainment, all built around baseball.”

A five-acre urban park, plus at least five additional acres of community park space, will be incorporated into the site. The plan also calls for renovation of the current Angel Stadium of Anaheim or the building of a new 45,000-seat stadium.

In December, Anaheim approved the $325-million purchase and sale agreement for the site. The city is now working on follow-on agreements and final plans for review by Anaheim’s City Council in late summer or early fall. Construction is slated to start by 2025 and span through 2050.
