American Apparel Workers Protest Store Closings
Several American Apparel workers in Los Angeles protested store closings and job cuts that the locally based retailer has planned. The company’s management announced earlier this week that it would close stores and let employees go to improve profitability.
About 180 layoffs took place in April at the company’s manufacturing plant. There have also reportedly been furloughs and major pay reductions. More employees were said to be let go in the corporate office and distribution center this week as well.
Protests took place in front of American Apparel’s Downtown Los Angeles headquarters.
