Amazon Will Open 820K-SF Warehouse in Pflugerville

Amazon said Wednesday it would open a new fulfillment center in Pflugerville, with an anticipated 2021 launch. The 820,000-square-foot center will eventually see 1,000 employees work alongside Amazon robotics to pick, pack and ship small items to customers such as books, electronics and toys.

“We’re appreciative of the people of Texas for so warmly embracing Amazon into the community,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s VP of global customer fulfillment. “There are now over 20,000 Texan Amazonians working for us in the state.”

Simultaneous with Amazon’s announcement, the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) said a performance agreement with Amazon had been approved by the City Council.

The PCDC will fund up to $3.8 million in improvements to the intersection of FM 685 and Pecan Street near the fulfillment center. In exchange, Amazon will spend at least $250 million to build the facility and create a minimum of 1,000 jobs.
