Amazon Will Add Five Sites in Metro Detroit

Amazon said Monday it would develop five new buildings in the Detroit area to support operations closer to customers. The largest of these will be an 823,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Detroit that will be the fourth fulfillment center in the state using Amazon robotics.

In addition, Amazon will open a sub-same-day fulfillment center in Hazel Park, an Amazon “XLFC” fulfillment center and sort center in Pinnacle Park, a sort center in Plymouth and a robotics fulfillment center in Pontiac.

“We’re excited to be expanding our network to better serve our customers in the great city of Detroit,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s VP of global customer fulfillment. “We are grateful for the strong support we’ve received from local and state leaders as we broaden our footprint throughout Michigan.”

Amazon currently operates 10 sites in Detroit that support customer fulfillment and delivery operations, including four facilities that launched in 2020.
