Amazon UK Not Hurt by Brexit?

By: Daniella Soloway

Despite survey results indicating weakened confidence on behalf of British consumers following Britain’s referendum to leave the European Union, Amazon UK was reportedly unaffected. Sales continue as usual, and, according to the company’s newly appointed head, Doug Gurr, expansion plans will continue.

The e-commerce giant plans to add 1,000 jobs across the United Kingdom this year, spanning customer service, research, development, and creative positions. These jobs are in addition to the 2,500 that were announced in January of this year.

“What we’ve said to all of our teams is: As far as we’re concerned, nothing changes. We’re still part of the EU as of today, and we’ll continue to operate on that basis,” Gurr added.
