Amazon to Expand Workforce With 2,500 Locals

An 855,000-square-foot Amazon fulfillment center underway in Houston is set to create 2,500 jobs.

The $136-million warehouse, situated in the Pinto Business Park at I-45 and Beltway 8, will feature robotic technology that ramps up inventory activity and requires more hands to help satisfy consumer demand.

The Amazon distribution facility, projected to open in summer 2017, is Houston’s first. Harris County commissioners are granting the online retailer a decade-long tax break.
