Amazon Plans Sixth Fulfillment Facility in Ohio
Amazon.com, Inc. plans to open an 855,000-square-foot customer fulfillment center in West Jefferson, OH, its third in the Columbus area. The sorting facility would be the giant e-commerce company’s sixth in the state, and promises to create 1,500 jobs.
Amazon’s Mark Stewart says, “We are excited to open a new, state-of-the-art fulfillment center in West Jefferson, and to continue innovating in Ohio – a state committed to providing great opportunities for jobs and customer experience.”
The site at 1550 W. Main St. is within Park 70. Indianapolis-based Duke Realty, which has developed existing warehouses in the industrial park, would build the new facility for Amazon. The land carries a 15-year, 100% property tax abatement, and the state would contribute $1.5 million for roadwork improvements.
Workers at the facility, which is slated to deliver by the end of 2019, will pick, pack and ship customer items such as electronics, books, housewares and toys.
