Amazon May or May Not Be Tenant for 2.6M-SF Twin Cities Center

Carmel, IN-based Scannell Properties is planning to build a four-level fulfillment center as part of its 230-acre NorthPark Business Center in Brooklyn Park, MN. At 2.6 million square feet, it would be the largest single industrial building in the Twin Cities region.

It’s not clear whether Scannell plans to build the facility on a speculative basis or as a build-to-suit. Target Corporation told the Twin Cities Business Journal it’s not the tenant.

However, an Amazon spokeswoman didn’t entirely rule out her company. “Amazon is constantly investigating new locations to support the growth and increase the flexibility of its North American network to address customers’ needs,” a company spokeswoman told the Business Journal. “Amazon is not yet commenting on any specific plans in Minnesota.”

The e-commerce giant already occupies an 850,000-square-foot site in Shakopee, MN, but reportedly was looking for a second Twin Cities fulfillment center last year.
