Amazon Could Take Space at NYC’s Hudson Yards

Online retail giant Amazon is reportedly ready to ink a deal for a brick-and-mortar bookstore/café in Manhattan. The location for Amazon Books will be Hudson Yards, Related Cos.’ and Oxford Properties Group’s massive mixed-use development.

Hudson Yards stores are scheduled to open in late 2018 or early 2019. If the Amazon contract is signed, the location would be the retailer’s first non-virtual presence on the East Coast. The company’s already has a brick-and-mortar store in Seattle, which opened in 2015.

Physical stores represent another way for Amazon to sell its own line of books. If the Hudson Yards proposed site is similar to Amazon’s Seattle location, it will consist of a showroom for Kindle e-readers and Fire tablets.
