Amazon Leases Sort Center at Staten Island Logistics Park

Amazon has leased its third warehouse at Matrix Development Group’s Matrix Global Logistics Park on Staten Island. The 975,000-square-foot sort center joins a 450,000-square-foot last-mile facility and an 855,000-square-foot fulfillment center already occupied by Amazon.

An Amazon spokeswoman told the Staten Island Advance newspaper that the new facility will open its doors next month. “This sort center will sort packages before being transferred to a delivery station or last-mile delivery partner for final delivery for customers,” she explained.

Joseph Taylor, CEO of Cranbury, NJ-based Matrix, said construction on the new warehouse was completed two weeks ago. It joins the two other Amazon facilities on the site and a 955,000-square-foot Ikea warehouse.

“We are very excited the fourth building on the site has been leased by Amazon,” Taylor told the newspaper. “This is now the jobs coast that Borough President James Oddo had envisioned and helped create.”
