Amazon Leases Midtown21 – All 365K SF

Amazon Inc. has struck again with a mega-lease, this time taking down the new, 21-story Midtown21 office high rise currently going north in Seattle. The long-term lease gives the e-commerce retailer the entire, 365,000-square-foot building, scheduled for a December completion. Trammell Crow is the developer.

Midtown21 is at Terry Avenue and Stewart Street, close to a current, renovated 1950s building that Amazon currently leases. The property is also three blocks from the company’s South Lake Union and high-rise campuses. Amazon plans to move into Midtown21 later next year.

Amazon occupied or had plans to build and lease a total of 9.3 million square feet as of this past summer, according to Kidder Mathews. The company is anticipated to have 12 million square feet of office space in the Seattle metro by 2022.
